Where can I find the data values in Option Sets?

$

Hi everyone

I'm very new to Dynamics 365, so please forgive me if this is a silly question.

I've output our Contacts table which includes the fields sic_maritalstatus, si_type and sic_gender as shown on the attached image. As you'll see, the Marital Status (usually either Single or Married) is shown as a numeric value. This is the same for the Type and Gender fields.

All these fields are based on Option Sets within CRM, and I assume that a table / entity must exist which has these codes alongside their text values (e.g. 907510002 = Married etc).

Where would I find this table / entity, or is it in a different place for each set up of Dynamics? Am I able to find out from within Dynamics itself?

Many thanks
Jon

Track email replies from emails sent by Dynamics 365 and add them as a note\activity on the record

Hi Guys,

Is there a way that we can track email replies from emails sent by Dynamics 365 onto the particular record where the email was sent with?

We have some workflows\flows(Powerautomate) that sends some automated emails on Dynamics 365, just wondering if there is a way to track replies for those emails and if the process for tracking it would be the same?

Can anyone give some ideas? I saw a lot of posts on it but the ones ive been seeing were from way back 2013 and not sure if it is still applicable. Thanks

I am trying to get a test project to work after following a sample using SDK to insert a new account into CRM. There is only one user on the CRM  for the purpose of testing which is the system / Domain  Administrator, When I try to create the new account , I get an Access Denied response. I have tried using the entity name as 'account' and 'Account' and even used a spurious entity name, all with the same result. Can anyone point me in the  right direction to try and track down what the issue is. I'm presuming its with the connection. My development machine, CRM and SQL are all Virtual servers on the same domain

Entity List not displaying correctly in Web Template

Hi there.

I'm having real problems with a Web Page linked to an Entity List in a Community Portal.

The Entity List displays and works fine if I use a Page template that uses the Website header and footers. But as soon as I turn that off and use my own templates, even if they are basically empty, the Entity list displays as in the attached image. The templates work fine with Web Forms, and Entity Forms, it's just Entity Lists that are giving me a problem.

Can anyone point me in the direction I should be looking? I am fairly new to Portals. Any help appreciated,

Paul

How to limit the number of related records to a given number

$

Dear all,

How can I limit the number of related records?

The use case:

- Entity "Location" has a field "Can hold multiple items"

- Entity "Item" has a lookup field "Location"

- When an item gets a Location assigned that already has an item assigned to it (in the case "Can hold multiple items" = False), it should be prevented somehow (indicating that the chosen location already has reached its limit)

How can I achieve this? I have tried a custom plugin, but it seems that this does not prevent anything; see code here : OneOrMultipleItemsPerLocation.cs (github.com)

A more general use case would be to have a numeric field "number of maximum items on this location" that would prevent to have more than this number assigned to this location....

Thanks,
Koen

Hi everyone, I am working on an install of Microsoft Dynamic CRM 365 v9.  I am at the point of installing the Reporting Extensions and I get the following error.

Prior to this error I had an issue were the SSRS Instance name was not appearing and so I had to edit the registry with entries for the following

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Micrisoft\Microsoft SQL Server\SSRS\Setup -> String Value ->MSSQLSERVER ->SSRS

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Micrisoft\Microsoft SQL Server\Instance Names\RS -> String Value ->Version ->14.0.600.906

I am stuck here and would appreciate any insights you might have.

Copy Attached File From One Entity's Record To Another Of File Data Type In C#

Hey There,

Hope you all guys have been doing well, Anyway I need help of yours for New Field (Column) "File Type" when it comes to C# whether it is Plugin or Custom Workflow Activity.

I do have two custom entity as "Document" & "Case Document" which have same data type as File Wherein it has relationship as (1:N).

Requirement :

I want to attach or transfer File which is there on Document record to Case Document records  whenever new record is created.

Issue :

I am trying to write C# wherein i am able to retrieve the file information along with download but when it comes to upload I seem to have done great job but when i try to retrieve the Case Document record i get to see the file information in console application but it not getting shown in Dynamics 365 record. (Please do check my code and let me know perhaps i have forgotten something.)

string fileNM = "doc_template";

var initRequest = new InitializeFileBlocksDownloadRequest()
{ FileAttributeName = fileNM, Target = new EntityReference("SourceEntityName", SourceRecordID) };

var initResponse = (InitializeFileBlocksDownloadResponse)service.Execute(initRequest);

byte[] File;
var increment = 4194304;
var from = 0;
var fileSize = initResponse.FileSizeInBytes;
byte[] downloaded = new byte[fileSize];
var fileContinuationToken = initResponse.FileContinuationToken;

while (from < fileSize)
{
var blockRequest = new DownloadBlockRequest() { Offset = from, BlockLength = increment, FileContinuationToken = fileContinuationToken };
var blockResponse = (DownloadBlockResponse)service.Execute(blockRequest);
blockResponse.Data.CopyTo(downloaded, from);
from += increment;
}

File = downloaded;

//Till Now I have retrieved as well as downloaded the contents of File type from Source Entity's Record.

//Now I am about to start procedure for uploading the downloaded file into Destination Entity's Record.

string fileNM1 = "Casedoc_template";

var initRequest2 = new InitializeFileBlocksUploadRequest()
{
FileAttributeName = fileNM1,
FileName = initResponse.FileName,
Target = new EntityReference("DestinationEntityName", DestinationRecordGuid)
};
var initResponse2 = (InitializeFileBlocksUploadResponse)service.Execute(initRequest2);

var limit = 4194304;
var fileContinuationToken2 = initResponse2.FileContinuationToken;
var blockIds = new List<string>();

for (int i = 0; i < Math.Ceiling(File.Length / Convert.ToDecimal(limit)); i++)
{
var blockId = Convert.ToBase64String(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(Guid.NewGuid().ToString()));
blockIds.Add(blockId);
var blockData = File.Skip(i * limit).Take(limit).ToArray();
var blockRequest = new UploadBlockRequest() { FileContinuationToken = fileContinuationToken, BlockId = blockId, BlockData = blockData };
var blockResponse = (UploadBlockResponse)service.Execute(blockRequest);
}

var commitRequest = new CommitFileBlocksUploadRequest()
{
BlockList = blockIds.ToArray(),
FileContinuationToken = fileContinuationToken,
FileName = initResponse.FileName,
MimeType = @"application/octet-stream"
};

service.Execute(commitRequest);

// Finally it appears that i have been able to upload the downloaded file from source entity's record to destination entity's record. However it is not getting shown in Dynamics 365 record. But when i try to retrieve that destination entity's record in Console Application then it get to see File Name but not the contents at all.

Why are some 2 options fields not showing as check boxes in the workflow?

I have created several fields on the opportunity form and set them to be the 2 options data type with the type check box.

These all appear properly as check boxes in the form itself.  However in the flow a few show as check boxes but the rest do not.  Apologies for this being kind of ugly, I had to hide proprietary labels.  I have l cleared the browser cache and created a new opportunity, but this issue persists.  I have checked and the first two data fields seen below are set up exactly as the other two.  Can someone help me?

How can i get attachment to open in browsesr?

Hi

We are uploading multiple attachments against contact records - pdfs, jpgs, bmps etc. When we click on them they are downloading to the local drive for opening. Is there any way we can get them to open in browser? I can change my browser setting to open PDFs in browser but not other file types and anyway, I need to be able to control this at application level rather than individual device level.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Lisa

ClickDimensions creating Leads, even though Visitor Entity is set to Contact

Despite having set the default Visitor entity to Contact, we occasionally find that a Lead is created, apparently by ClickDimensions, and we cannot find any reason for this.

It tends to be with (test) contacts with made up email addresses but it has also happened with real email addresses too.

Has anyone got any idea why this might be happening?  Fields are mapped to both the Lead and Contact entities by default but we didn't (yet) want to go through them and create new ones as once the mapping to Lead is there, it cannot be removed.

Thanks!

Opportunity Closed as Lost isn't showing my changes, why?

I need to make a change to the Opportunity Close form, and so when I do and publish my changes, and then go and click on the Close as Lost button, my changes don't appear.

What am I missing?  How can I get my changes to show up?

Global buttons stopped showing up in Unified Interface

I have a custom solution with the Application Ribbon component which contains a few buttons, globally available on all entities in the system. This solution is deployed as a managed solution, and is self-contained.

Now, on my dev instance (which is, admittedly, bit old since it's the 2014 on prem CRM version) the buttons show up fine for all entities as expected. I can take this solution to a CRM9.0 on-prem instance with equally satisfactory results. It also worked for a customer using CRM 365 Online WITHOUT the Unified Interface patch.

However, that customer has now updated their online CRM instance and enabled Unified Interface, which caused the buttons to no longer appear. I've started investigating, and I was unable to create even a simple global button at all using the ribbon workbench (for testing purposes I've tried creating a button that just opens up a web page, with a simple enable rule). This was created using a new solution with the Application Ribbon component and after publishing the button was nowhere in sight.

Is there a new method for creating global buttons when using the Unified Interface? I really need these buttons to be global and while I could, as a hotfix for a select customer, just re-create the buttons for select entities, in general this isn't how the solution is supposed to work and the buttons MUST be global.

EDIT:

I've made some progress when it comes to analysis. I was eventually able to make a simple button appear - so global buttons as such ARE working (however, to be absolutely honest, I have no idea why my initial attempts failed).

I've also found there's a button checker tool which should help "debug" why buttons aren't popping up. Well, in my case, ALL of the buttons enable rules (no display rules) are "skipped", which isn't very helpful. This leads me to believe the issue might be with the action itself, but the action just runs a JS or opens a web resource (depending on which button we're talking about), so that's also not very helpful. Any idea what could be wrong here?
