Combined customer entities (account, contact) together

Hi all,

I'm working on a CRM solution designed to have organization and person records insert into contact entity. The entity form would show/hide relevant fields depending on the choice whether organization or person is chosen.

I personally don't think it's a good idea from a data model point of view. Organizations should belong to account and persons should belong to contact. However, I would like to hear from other CRM developers. What would be potential harm/benefit of using this design ?
