Change the existing contact record to read only

Hi,

I have a requirement where I have to make the Contact as read only when an option set contains one particular value.

Foe ex I have Option A and B in the option set, Then if the existing record contains Option A ,the record should be read only.

Any help or guidance will be highly appreciated.
