Authorisation on different types of contacts

In the contacts entity, we are storing two type of contacts (candidates and contact persons for accounts). Our type identification is kept in a custom field. We are looking for a way to authorise two user groups: one group can only create candidates and one group can only create contact persons for accounts. Both groups must have read access to both types of contacts.

 

In the standard authorisation model, we only can set the authorisation for the basic contact entity: either you can create all types or none. Is there any way to use the type field in the authorisation for the different groups? I prefer not to use code (either server of cliënt side).


Can't open cases in crm via the mailbox CRM outlook client

Hi comunity members,

When a case is tracked in the mailbox we can click on the case (regarding: ...) and than the case normally opens. When I click now on the case, nothing happens. When I create a new case (via convert to case) than the case is created but is not opened directly (as usual). 
Could you please help me? Thanks!

Invalid Argument using Quick Search

We just migrated so CRM 2016 (8.1.0.359) and we have a problem with a custom entity.

When we use the quick search field - whatever we type in the field - we get an Invalid Argument error.

The problem occurs only for users who use the secondary UI language. Primary language throws no error.

It doesn't happen on other entities either, even custom ones.

Here is the log file details:

Grid cells misaligned in CRM 365 on-premise

Hello guys,

we have an issue with the alignment of the data rows in the grids:

As you can see from the picture above, the cells in the data row are misaligned with the cells in the header. The reason is that in the data row there's a hidden checkbox (its tooltip will pop up when the cursor is placed over the empty space before the first cell in the data row) which takes some place and it causes that all cells after that are moved to the right a little bit.

I already tried to modify the customization.xml file where the definition of the view is located:

But this has not any effect on the presence of the hidden checkbox.

I tried IE 11, Edge and Chrome but they behave same.

Do you have any suggestions how to overcome this?

I using CRM app for Outlook, Appointments, and task created in CRM are getting created  automatically into exchange online, But I am unable to sync from exchange to CRM since there is no Track button available in exchange online

Smart Matching and Case Creation

Hi,

We currently encounter the following issue:

Whenever a new email arrives to our customer service mail account it is automatically tracked in Outlook and a case is created via an automatic case creation rule. This works fine apart from the fact that successive emails (replies, forwards, etc.) lead to the creation of new cases each time. I've set up the Smart Matching correlation to get rid of the default noise words like "RE:", "FW:" etc. by using the predefined regular expression. I have tested this expression manually and it successfully finds the noise words. However, it seems the successive emails in an email thread are not recognized as expected since the mails are not appended to the existing case, but a new case is created for each mail.

We are using Dynamics CRM 2016 with the latest updates (February 2017) and the following email settings:

  • Any ideas why the incoming emails are not appended to an existing case (which is still open)?
  • Do the case creation rules have any influence on the decision, whether a new case is created or an email is appended to an existing case?

I would appreciate any hints on how to resolve this issue.

Selected language of a portal page

According to the documentation website.selected_language should give us the language in which the website is currently rendered when using Liquid.
I added entity permissions on the website.

But when adding this in the Page Copy I don't get a result.
Is there still something to set up? Is this only possible in liquid web templates?

Currency field Error

Hi ,

I have created some currency field with 2 decimal places.But not sure why it is showing as "24.00000000" if i enter 24 in the field and also it wont allow me to save.showing error as "A currency is required if a value exists in a money.select currency and try again" .

Error while Importing the solution because it is dependent on a ribbon control. Manual Edit is also throwing same error.

Hi, I am getting the following error when I am trying to import the solution. 

Error: The ribbon item 'abc.B_gridAddNewProblemFix.Hide' is dependent on ribbon control id='B_gridAddNewProblemFix'.

Original RibbonDiffXml is as following:

Dynamics 365 Team Member Licensing

Hi All,

just to get more clarification regarding the new licensing terms.

  1. Can a user who's has been assigned the Team Member License will be able to Create Read and write the Custom entity records?
  2. We are hardly using CRM upto the full potential of it and we only use it for Sales and the OOB Leads, Opportunities, Quotes, Orders, Invoices, Products and Price Lists doesn't cater our needs whatsoever or doesn't support our business scenario, can I develop custom functionality that suits our Business process / Scenario and give access to Users having Team Members License.

I was confused with the Licensing terms, especially with the below statement from the Licensing Guide-

*** Custom entities (either based on entities included in Microsoft Dynamics 365 or created by a customer or partner) may require a higher CAL or User SL, depending on the required access. Customizations can only be performed against entities included in the use rights.

Creating a lookup to a custom entity - looking up product numbers/names from order field

Hello, 

I am fairly new to the CRM world and have found the community on here very useful however I am struggling on this subject.

I am working on cases - customer service.

On the order entity we have a view of products that are within that order. This view is only populated with products once the order is saved/processed.

On my cases page I have a related look up for 2 fields. ( 1 field for orders and 1 field for invoices ) - only brings up related orders/invoices depending on what company is selected.

I am wanting to create another lookup that will show the products related to the order once its selected. No products are currently stored on our CRM and are written across from a 3rd party platform. As i mentioned they are only populated on a view once a order is processed.

At the moment it is a manual process as the CSR will find the order number whilst creating a case but will have to search that order number within the order entity (on a new tab) to note down the product numbers.

Is there a work around or a way I can allow CSRs to search for a product number from a order number whilst creating a case? (I hope the question makes sense).

Set regarding in outlook (add-in) through javascript

Hi,

So I've finally found a simple way to make it easier for users (from the web) to set the "regardingobjectid" automatically in appointments using javascript. In this case, I created a number of lookup fields which get shown depending on certain criteria. In the online and mobile version, onchange of one the lookupfields, the value gets assigned to the regardingobjectid and all works perfectly.

However .... in outlook, all of the javascript is working except for setting the chosen lookupvalue from one of the lookupfields to the regardingobjectid lookup field. It simply doesn't do anything.

Is there a workaround for this so the regardingobjectid's functionality is also working in the outlook client through javascript?

I can't find tabs in CRM 2013 those were useful to user to locate the section quickly. Is there any option or setup need to be done to get tabs selection.  Please find the screen-shots for your reference.
