Hierarchical Industry Sectors for Accounts

I'm sure this has been asked before, but struggling to find a specific reference.

I would like to create a custom hierarchy setup for Industry sectors to be held against accounts. The standard industry option is only a single level deep. We need the user to be able to easily select multiple industry sectors that apply to the account and each sector needs to have a drill-down style selection e.g., Technology > Programming > SQL

I see it as a control that has multiple drop-downs, each of which filters the next then allowing the user to add the selection to a list of assigned industry sectors, but clearly it could work in a number of ways.
