attribute entity1objecttypecode cannot be null- business process flow error

Hi,

I have a Cross entity Business process flow on entity Case. When trying to move to next stage which is of entity Contact, I am not able to select the existing contact. It gives the error attribute entity1objecttypecode cannot be null. It allows me to create a new one, but not to select the existing record.

Any help on this is much appreciated.
