Change business process based on field entry workflow not working in dynamics 365

Hoping someone can shed some light onto this issues I'm currently having with a workflow.

Up until now our company has only used Opportunities and had the Leads tab hidden.  Going forward we need to incorporate the leads function and then qualify the leads to Opportunities and have 1 of 3 different process bars load based on an option set in the Leads form.

Here is what I've done so far to try and get this to work:

1.  Created a global option set called "Client Type" with three separate options for the types of clients we work with.

2.  Added the field Client Type to both the Leads and Opportunity Entities under the customization settings and used the global options set that was created.  

3.  In the Lead to Opportunity process, I mapped the Client Type from the Lead to Opportunity.

4.  I then set up a workflow following the instructions in the link above.

Am I missing a step somewhere?  The Client Type field maps over when qualifying a lead to an Opportunity but the process bar stays the same as it is in the Lead stage.  The only way I can get it to change is by using the switch process option at the top of the form.  

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
