I have been researching this issue for a while now, but have yet to see a definite answer... so here goes, we have a pretty large spreadsheet with loads of CRM links in it. When a link is clicked in the worksheet, Excel becomes non responsive for about 45 seconds before loading the page.
I have performed the following tests before posting the question:
1. This behaviour is for CRM links only; any other links added to the same spreadsheet open instantaneously or with a maximum delay of 3 seconds.
2. Ran office repair - shaved off about 5 seconds the first time, no difference after.
3. Changed security settings on IE to MS recommendation. (and yes, the CRM URL is under trusted sites)
4. Disabled all add-ins - no difference
5. Ran Excel in Safe mode - no difference
6. Works well when the document is in protected mode, but the spreadsheet needs to be edited when being worked on.
7. Tried with Excel On-line - CRM links on a new workbooks work fine, but the shared worksheet used in the office cannot be opened in Excel online as Data Validation is not supported. (Google sheets is not an option - security)
