I've reviewed the Dynamics365 Data Export Service (mostly via Scott Durow's blog entry) as on option for replicating data for PowerBI.
Anyone have good pro/con for using it over Scribe (which we currently use) or any other 3rd party like DBSync or SkyVia? or any direct experience using both side-by-side.
We are pretty happy with Scribe, but I feel we will gain some benefits as PowerBI and the Data Export Service and Dynamics365 mature and integrate better (especially with custom entites) and the Data Export Service will/may be method of choice for out-of-the-box features from Microsoft.
A few questions:
- Is it going to be more cumbersome to configure?
- Will Microsoft be releasing tighter integration with PowerBI to avoid configuring in Dynamics and PowerBI when entities change?
- Is it better for system performance?
- Anything else noteable?
notes on our instance:
- We are on CRM Online
- We use mostly custom entities
- We create/update ~5000 new records a day
- PowerBI use will be limited to ~15 users
Any feedback if appreciated.
Thank you,
Dan
