Lookup values setting

I have two look ups in my entity: L1 and L2.

L2 is the child of L1. i.e values of look up L2 is dependent on value of L1.

Requirement is if user selects directly value in child (L2) then L1 (parent) value should be set automatically.

This is little urgent. Need javascript code for it.
