Business Process Flow for Custom Entity

Hi All,

I've created a BPF for a custom entity, but I need a field that shows the process stage.  

I thought I could use the StageID field, but it's a unique identifer and I can't even add that to the form.  Do I need to create a new field that is updated by a workflow?  If so, how should I construct it?
