We are using MS CRM 2016 online. We are a custom fab shop and do not use the product catalog as everything is a custom fabricated item and the price is variable for every order. There are 5 categories that we would like to create buckets for in each opportunity for reporting purposes. The idea is to split the total opportunity value into the 5 buckets for reporting purposes. Is there a way to set up a generic product in the product catalog so that the names are standardized to ensure consistent reporting but allow the price to be entered in by the user like a write in product.
If that wont work can you use a workflow to create a write in product in the opportunity? In this scenario we would just add each write in product to every opportunity on creation and then have the users enter the value into each one as needed.
