Outlook CRM App error

Hi All

Hoping someone can help.  CRM 2016 Online / Office 365

We have implemented the Outlook CRM App to allow users to track emails. Users are able to do all the relevant functions required and when they track an email in Outlook they are presented with the following if the Contact already exists. 

It looks as though when the system is trying to search for recent opportunities it throws up an error.  I am sure this is not a security permissions issues as this also occurs with a user who has sys admin permissions.

One thing I noticed is in IE 11 when I click on the 'Recently Viewed' icon it does nothing, no records are shown.  Also if I navigate to SALES - OPPORTUNITIES and select the drop down for recent records this shows as 'There aren't any recently viewed records to show' even though I have accessed multiple records.

If I use another browser e.g. Firefox I am able to see recently viewed record no problem.  Is the fact that I can't see recent records in IE causing this Outlook issue a well?  Though I would ask on here first before logging with Microsoft.
