Dashboard chart - trying to compare "open" and "close" dates in one chart (i.e. GroupBy two different values).

I am trying to create a chart which will show leads opened, qualified and disqualified over time (i.e. for each month, how many leads were opened, qualified and disqualified?).

I have created a chart which shows qualified and disqualified over time. This was done by creating a "Closed date" field on the Lead entity and then creating a multi-series chart and editing the two data series so one shows qualified and the other shows disqualified. (Grouped by "close date", aggregate type is countcolumn).

I want to add "Opened" as a third column on the left hand side of each data set.

My problem (as I understand it) is that "Created On Date" is a different field and I can't use "group by" attribute on two different fields. In effect I have two "sets" of the lead data, one in the context of the date created and one in the context of the data closed. I cannot seem to see if there is a way to overlap the two data "sets", in case grouped-by open date and in the second by closed date. (I appreciate that each lead may appear twice, once for opened and when relevant once for closed, that's fine, in fact, that's what I want).

I have considered creating a "ChartDate" field (with a business rule to put in either date created or date closed, as appropriate) and using that to get just one "GroupBy" attribute in the chart xml. I think this might result in each lead appearing just once though (I have not yet tested it).

Thanks

David
