CRM 2016 On Premise: Social Pane Filter - Email filter is blank

Strange one this.

When I use the filter on the social pane to select only emails, nothing is returned.

If I select Tasks and so on then they ARE returned.

Selecting both Tasks and Emails usually brings back both just fine.

The emails are of course present by default it is simply the filter that seems to be broken.

This is on premise: 8.1.1.1005

I am looking at the Case form.

Any ideas?
