Auto-populate call to field on phone call activity from Case

Hi there,

When adding a phone call activity from a case record, I need the 'call to' field to be auto-populated with the consumer associated with that case. I tried making a workflow that is triggered when a phone call is created and populated the call to field with the consumer regarding the case. I then tried mapping the consumer field to the call to field. Both options did not work. 

Can anybody help me as I am out of ideas. Do I need to write script or a plugin to achieve this?
