How do I get the "Open Associated View" button to show for a subgrid in CRM 2013

Hi everyone,

I am using CRM 2013 SP1 rollup 3 server and client.

I am able to see the "Open Associated View" button (the square button next to the add new or add existing '+' button") for most subgrids including 1 to many relationships and many to many relationships subgrids. I noticed that whenever I have a subgrid showing a many to many relationship pointing back to the same entity, that subgrid does not show the "Open Associated View" button next to the "+". I can still access it from the record's navigation but it is not practical.

Here is an example:

Lets say I have two many to many relationships
- Case to Account
- Case to Case

On the Case entity form, I have two subgrids showing those two relationships
- Case to Account subgrid shows an "Add Existing" button and an "Open associated view" button
- Case to Case subgrid shows an "Add Existing" button but nothing else

Is that by design or should I be able to see an "Open associated view" button even for relationships of entities referencing themselves? I have looked in the Workbench tool and the "Open associated view" button is listed in the subgrid section and there does not seem to be a "Hide" display rule associated to it.

If this is by design, is there another way that I can access the "associated view" page other than using the record navigation bar/ribbon?

Thanks,
Stéphane
