How to stop email activities being stored against a contact card

Background: I am using the Quick Campaigns module to send out emails to a list of Contacts contained in a Marketing List; fairly standard for CRM. The emails are distributed by creating a new Email Activity. When the email is sent out, the Activity is stored in two places: in the Quick Campaign and against the Contact. Sometimes, the company wants to distribute emails that we do not want track against the contact e.g. Christmas cards to all our distributors.

Question: How do I distribute emails via a Quick Campaign and notstore the Activity against the Contact(s) it was sent to?

I am happy to accept any solution or workaround to solve the problem. For example, if I have to launch a workflow before or after the email has been distributed to clean-up the links between the Activity and Contact then that will be acceptable.

I have thoroughly investigated this with the information I can find, and I cannot find an option to prevent this. I know there are fields that exist in Dynamics CRM that store the reference (Tracking Token) to the Activity. That is as far as I have reached.
