Sync Settings for CRM for Outlook Plugin

Hi

Quick question. My team is having speed issues with the Outlook plugin once tracked emails and tasks reach a specific critical mass. I've read through the forums and many people suggest that this could be due to the automatic syncing of emails, tasks and appointments bilaterally between Outlook and CRM.

My question is whether I can turn the automatic sync off and still allow the user to "set regarding"/track emails, appointments and tasks via Outlook to CRM using the plugin? I've noticed also in outlook, there is a manual button in CRM that you can press to perform a manual sync, can I set it so that it works as a manual process?
