Redirect/Replace Global Search Text Box

We are looking at 3rd party solutions replace the default global search in Dynamics CRM 2015. Is there any way to have the global search box that shows in the header redirect or go to another web resource? My users are going to still see global search text box 1st before any other header navigation and I would like to have them use the 3rd party search instead of the default global search. We are on premise so if is just adding a URL rewrite rule we can do that.
