I only noticed that "Presence" was a thing recently (through looking into some slow browser performance and seeing repeated requests querying for presence data).
A decent google has given me very little detailed information about what it does and how it does it, and most of the info seems to date from CRM 4 anyway. Can someone point me at any documentation (preferably up to date - since I'm pretty sure Live Messenger is no longer a thing)?
Primarily, I have an on-premise production environment where Presence is enabled (and other conditions for activation seem to be satisfied, so that I believe it's doing something) and I'm looking for some insight into the question: What differences or other impact will the users see if I turn it off?
