Duplicate Detection Jobs for Imports

Hello!  I work in Higher Education and I am hoping that someone can help.  We have all of our prospective students in our CRM and they can send us their SAT/ACT test scores through a service and we can import them in to the system.  The issue that I am running in to is that the address that can come through with the test score file, which is imported, is different from what we have in the CRM and actually the most updated address.  Because the address is already populated on the record, the new address is not updating with the import.  Can someone please point me in the right direction if there is away around this?  Ideally we would want to review the potential duplicates where the Last name matches, first few characters of the first name match, and say DOB or email address (probably set up through a few different rules) but the address is different.  Right now with our current rules, the score data is going right to the record and the address does not update.  I have tried turning off the duplicate detection rules for imports but then the duplicate detection job that runs every night is not picking up the records.  I am still new to the system and I really appreciate any and all help.

How to attach multiple contact to an opportunity?

Hi there,

Is there a way of aligning multiple contacts from the same account to an opp? So that they come under the opp's 'related' records?

Presently we have one lookup field for key contact, but there are opportunities where we have more contacts other than the key contact and would want to see their activities too in the opp form.

Automatic case creation rule for incoming emails (Not working)

Hi,

I am trying to set up automatic case creation for Dynamics 365 for our support desk. I've followed the instructions and created a queue, record case creation rule and case properties

 However, when an email is sent to our support mailbox when "Record Creation and Update Rule" is

deactivate the system just create a new queue and

when is active the system stops to creating queue and does not create a new case.

Any ideas what is happening, as to what silly mistake I have made/missed? and how can I solved

WEB Api + General JScript question

Hi All,

Since CRM 2016 we got this new WEBAPI that will replace the SOAP endpoint.

The community already spent a lot of effort creating helper files to make our life easier.

Being a C# and not a JScript developer, I'm a bit stuck on one part of the concept.

I do understand the importance of async handling of these odata calls.

But I can't get my head around a simple function I need to create.

I have one function CanApprove that will have to return false or true depending on some criteria (which is not important for this question).

This is will manage the visibility of the button via an EnableRule of the Ribbon Workbench.

How do I make the function 'wait' until the odata call returns , and only then return the value 'true' or 'false'.

I could define a global boolean 'CallFinished' + result variable and make the CanApprove wait with a while CallFinished = false.

In the success or error function of the odata call, I would then set the result / CallFinished variable.

But I hope there are other and cleaner solutions to achieve my goal.

Since synchronious xdr and XMLHttpRequest is depreciated, I better not resort to that solution either.

Very curious how this is tackeld in the field ...

and

On account entity i am getting lead id but i want to make that field as hyper link and after click on that(LeadID) i want to open particular form  account lead only

How can i archive this scenario.

CRM 2015 (On-premise) Metadata Problem

Hi Guys

We use dynamics CRM 2015 (on –premise). there is problem when we try to import any solution that contains the lead. For example when we try to edit lead ribbon in ribbon workbench we get the error like “An item with the same key has already been added.” For finding the reason I tried to export and then re import solution that contains some custom entity without any change so it worked fine, then I did the same for solution that contains only lead entity During import the lead entity we get the same error like “An item with the same key has already been added.” In XML log. I tried to find the field that cause to problem so i understood that when i removed “ownerid” and the related relation from customization XML the problem solves.I think the metadata has corrupted (maybe during migration from 2011 to 2015 or unsupported data manipulation in the past). Am I right? Is there any supported or unsupported way to correct metadata in CRM database?

My query is 

i have 2 feilds one in lead(source campain) and other in account (custom feild related to campain).

after click on the quailify button the feild value in the lead should be placed in the that custom feild in the account.

Closing opened Webresource

The only supported way to open some custom window is through Xrm.Navigation.openWebResource, right? Is it possible to use it as more complex dialog?
I have following problems with that:
Is it possible to close the webresource from within? I mean something like Cancel/Close button that would return me to the previous site and would work on both mobile app and browser.
If something like that was possible, I have also follow up question: can I pass some parameters back to the function calling Xrm.Navigation.openWebResource, that would ideally await them ?

Office 365 Global Admin doesn't need D365 Admin access

Dear, 

We have an Office 365 Global Administrator who needs to use Dynamics 365 like a normal use (without administrator rights). 

We assigned him a D365 licence and settled up his user without 'system admin' security role (and with a normal Sales role). 

Nevertheless the security doesn't seems to be applied and the user can still access everything like an admin. 

Who can we reduce right for this user without changing his Office 365 Global Admin role ?

Error to connect CRM for outlook to Dynamics 365 on-premise

I just set up an on-premise CRM dynamics365 server. It is a single server deployment using AD (non-claims based, non internet facing). All users are able to log in and work using IE, but using the same URL in the Outlook configuration wizard returns the error 'There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. The server might be unavailable. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.'

I had to remove all storedd creds from Windows having to pertain to CRM

Dynamics 365 v.9 - 0x80040203 Expected non-empty string. Parameter name: SiteMapName

Hi!

If you have to import APP in Dynamics Customer Engagment v9.0 and will find this error "0x80040203 Expected non-empty string. Parameter name: SiteMapName" is because when you exported your solution in the customizations.xml is missing the node XML <SiteMapName> after every SiteMapUniqueName in the AppModuleSiteMap.

You have to add this node in every AppModuleSiteMap. 

This is an example:

<AppModuleSiteMap>
      <SiteMapUniqueName>bd3c391f1a7c48818b7841cb8dc9a1cc</SiteMapUniqueName>
       <SiteMapName>Dynamics 365 Mobile – personalizzato</SiteMapName> NODE TO ADD!!

recently we sent optionsets from Nav to CRM through ssis package using cozyroc tool and the option set was showing in crm once package executed successfully but the data was not showing in database once we saved and published the data those option sets showed in data base

my question is where does the option set will be stored in database (sql) untill we publish it in crm??

Error when installing CRM 2011 on a new server that’s IFD environment

   I am try add new server to existing environment having IFD Configured.  While installation giving below error:-

  1. The encryption certificate 'CN=*.lalpathlabs.com' cannot be accessed by the CRM service account. 
  2. A secure (https) site is required for claims-based authentication.

For example we have the employee filed as option set and in that we the values as
1)Contract
2)Temporary

so by default we need to fill the field as Contract so for this we have couple of ways by using
javascript we can write the code as follows :

Most of the background workflows in Prod failing with below error

GrantAccessRequest doesn't share records sometimes

Hi,

I'm using the GrantAccessRequest class to share records with users/teams within a custom workflow activity, but sometimes it doesn't share the record but the workflow status is succeed and the code doesn't throw any exception.

We create the records that trigger the workflow with a custom application that syncs the data from NAV to Dynamics 365. 

I've seen the class documentation says: For this message to work, the caller must be connected to the server

  1. I don't totally get what means: For this message to work, the caller must be connected to the server, the caller would be the user we use with the custom sync app?
  2. Is there any other way to share records?
  3. Any way to find out if GrantAccessRequest doesn't share the record?
